Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and Deaf-Blind Services - Division of Vocational Rehabilitation

This agency is known as VR for short. They offer services to help people with all types of hearing loss. VR assists with hearing skills training for job searches and interviews. They also help employers with interpreters and how to best work with those that are deaf or have hearing loss. Please call or visit the website for locations and more information.

Services Include:

Divine Mercy House - St. Joseph's Catholic Church

This is a shelter for pregnant women over the age of 18 with no other children in their care. The house can accommodate one woman with a child under five in certain cases.

Education and job training are provided so the women can get a GED or college diploma. They will develop specific job seeking skills so they will be more self sufficient. Each woman stays an average of six to eight months after her baby is born.

Office Hours are Monday through Friday from 9am-4pm. The shelter is staffed 24 hours a day.

Domestic Violence & Human Trafficking (Lucha) Program-Americans for Immigrant Justice

Lucha is for those dealing with domestic violence and human trafficking. There is free legal help for immigrants. You can get healthcare and mental health counseling. They can help with housing, school, and jobs. They help with banking, taxes, and earning a driver's license. See the website to learn more.

Family Self-Sufficiency Program - Northeast Florida Community Action Agency

This agency runs the Family Self-Sufficiency Program. They will work with you to create a specified case plan to help your family. Through your case plan they will address barriers to self-sufficiency like employment and education. With their help you can earn your GED and learn ways to make more money.
