Mid Florida Community Services of Hernando County - Community Care for the Elderly

Community Care for the Elderly is a state-funded program. To qualify for services, the client must be 60 years of age or over, and be functionally impaired. Fees are on a sliding-scale basis.

Services provided include:

  • SHINE - Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders

    SHINE volunteers help Seniors with health insurance questions. They provide free information and unbiased counseling. Get Help with questions about: Medicare, Medicare supplements, Medicaid, Prescription assistance, Long-term care insurance, and Medicare fraud. Meet with a SHINE volunteer at area counseling sites or by telephone. We can do home visits for those who are housebound.
