Healthy Start of North Central Florida provides the following services free of charge to pregnant women and new mothers:
Customers may receive help of up to $500 for electric service once a year. Customers seeking help may call FPL Customer Service or the partner agency for the Care To Share in their area. Please see the website for more information.
The Healthy Families Florida program is for expectant parents and parents of newborns. Parents that are dealing with stressful life problems. NewboRN Home Visiting is a free program for women in Alachua County who give birth there. Within a week a registered nurse or midwife will visit. They will check on the health of the baby and mother, as well as help with breastfeeding and nutrition, give tips of how to safely care for the baby, and help connect the family to other local resources. MIECHV / Parents as Teachers is free for parents with infants and young kids in stressful life situations. They teach parents and caregivers skills to help their kids be healthy and safe. As well successful in school.
