Direct Aid Program - National Kidney Foundation of Florida, Inc.

This agency helps dialysis patients with transportation costs not covered by other resources. Patients may use grants to travel to and from dialysis treatment, or for transplant work-ups. This is a funding of "last resort." Social workers must complete the NKF Application for Financial Assistance for the patient. Please see the website for more details.

The NFK offers the Hawthorne Patient Assistance Fund. It offers short-term financial help. Help is for qualified kidney transplant recipients. And is to help meet the cost of kidney transplant related medications. While the patient looks for other long-term solutions. The money is paid directly to the pharmacy of the patient’s choice. PPA helps people find programs to help pay for medications. More than 2500 brand name and generic drugs are covered. Many of them are free or low-cost. Finding out if you qualify is quick and easy. The call center accepts calls in about 150 languages. Please call for more information.

The Way Free Medical Clinic

The Way Free medical Clinic offers free basic medical services. Services are for residents of Clay County who have no health insurance. Clinic services are also available to eligible infants and children.

You must bring proof of your Clay County residence. You may bring your driver’s license or a piece of mail such as a utility or phone bill with your name and current address.

General Clinic Hours:

  • 1st and 3rd Saturday and Sunday of each month
  • Sign in from 8 AM to 9:30 AM first-come, first-served
  • OB/GYN care Monday through Thursday from 9 AM to 1 PM by appointment only
  • Vision screening by appointment only
