Time Out Respite Care, Inc. offers short-term care for the developmentally disabled. Respite care workers assume the responsibility of staying in a home with the disabled individual. This is to allow families to complete a variety of tasks. The program is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The group does have preferred hours of between 8am and 11pm. Touching Miami with Love works with children from kindergarten through 8th grade. They help improve their education, as well as provide creative and recreational activities. August through May, Monday through Friday, 2 PM to 6 PM. ToMorrow’s Leaders are kindergarten to 5th grade. Emerging Leaders are 6th to 8th grade. All day programming from 8 AM to 6 PM. Boys Town offers housing for youth who cannot remain in their own homes. Married couples care for the children in a traditional home setting. There are three homes for boys and two for girls in the Tallahassee area. Many of these children have suffered the trauma of abuse and neglect and need a safe place to stay. Youth form a family and learn social and independent living skills that will help them in the future. The ultimate goal is to reunite each child with his or her family, whenever possible.
This agency offers support for anyone who has faced assault, sexual abuse or other trauma. There are several counseling groups available. Parents are included in the treatment of their children who get help here. The Stepped Care program provides free therapy for children. It is for ages 3 to 12.
