Friendship Dining provide nutritious, healthy food to people 60+. A suggested donation of $3 is asked to help cover the cost of the meals. While no one is denied a meal if unable to pay, the contribution helps to provide more meals for elders in the community. Friendship Home Delivered Meals are delivered to people who are 60 or older once a week. They can bring up to 7 frozen meals at a time. They are well-balanced meals that are prepared fresh and quickly frozen to assure that they are fresh when heated. It is a great way for long-distance care providers to be sure their loved ones are receiving healthy, nutritious meals. Gainesville Community Ministry provides emergency food. The food is for seniors, the disabled, and those with low income. You may get a 2 day supply of food once a month. You must apply in person. Glad Tidings Community Church is part of 461 Response. They help provide food to those in need. A temporary food assistance program for individuals and families is available on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am to noon. Every Sunday afternoon there are hot meals available for seniors in need.
