Hosanna House - Transitional Housing

Hosanna House is a transitional living facility. It is located in Destin, Florida. The program lasts from 6 to 9 months depending on the individuals need. Call for more information.

Requirements to enter the Hosanna House program:

  • A willingness to make a sincere commitment to the 6-9 month program
  • Being addiction free for at least six months, independent of incarceration or an inpatient facility (this includes all illegal drugs, prescription drugs & alcohol)
  • Being willing and able to work full time and/or attend the local job training center full time
  • Having a strong desire to change your life for the better and to become whole, healthy, and self-supporting

Lutheran Services Florida - Youth Shelters

Lutheran Services Florida has help for runaways and troubled youth. The goal of LSF Youth and Family Services is to reunite families.

Professionals and trained staff provide a full range of services including:

  • Aftercare/Follow-Up for Six Months
  • Case Management
  • Counseling, individual and family
  • Intervention
  • Referrals
  • Screening and Assignments
  • Short-term, residential shelters for runaways and troubled youth ages 10-17
  • Temporary Shelter

Opportunity, Inc. Okaloosa Walton Homeless Continuum of Care - Assisting Chronically Homeless

Independent Living Programs provide help to those who:

  • Have been homeless for at least a year
  • Homeless four times in the last three years
  • Who have chronic mental illness and/or substance abuse disorders

Case managers can link clients to housing, employment, benefits, and mental health and/or substance abuse treatment. Please call for details as to current service providers.

Opportunity, Inc. Okaloosa Walton Homeless Continuum of Care - Cold Night Shelter

Cold Night Shelter is a joint effort involving churches in Fort Walton Beach, Crestview, and Niceville. They give a safe haven when the temperature drops to 40 degrees or below. A community resource center, the Matrix, offers cold night shelter in DeFuniak Springs.

Severe weather shelter is also provided by the First United Methodist Church in Crestview. It is active whenever the National Weather Service issues a severe weather warning. The severe weather warning may be for thunderstorms, tornados, or hail.

Volunteers provide:

  • A hot dinner and breakfast
  • A place to lie down
  • Shower facilities where possible

Some churches also offer:

  • Hair cuts
  • Laundry facilities
  • Transportation to work sites

Opportunity, Inc. Okaloosa Walton Homeless Continuum of Care - Fresh Start, Transitional Shelter

Fresh Start is a not-for-profit agency. They provide transitional and affordable housing. For families and individuals who are homeless, but who are engaged in steady employment. Shelter House also has limited transitional housing for families who have been victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault. Call for more information.
