Service Animals - Canine Companions

People who are disabled due to injury or disease may qualify for an assistance dog. These highly trained dogs are able to assist with many tasks. There are 4 types of assistance dogs:

  • Facility - assists in an education or health care setting
  • Hearing – assists the hearing impaired
  • Service – assists with daily tasks
  • Skilled Companion – assists physically, mentally or developmentally disabled

SHINE - Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders

SHINE volunteers help Seniors with health insurance questions. They provide free information and unbiased counseling. Get Help with questions about: Medicare, Medicare supplements, Medicaid, Prescription assistance, Long-term care insurance, and Medicare fraud. Meet with a SHINE volunteer at area counseling sites or by telephone. We can do home visits for those who are housebound.

The Way Free Medical Clinic

The Way Free medical Clinic offers free basic medical services. Services are for residents of Clay County who have no health insurance. Clinic services are also available to eligible infants and children.

  • General medicine
  • Laboratory Testing
  • Prescription Medications
  • Referral and Educational Services

You must bring proof of your Clay County residence. You may bring your driver’s license or a piece of mail such as a utility or phone bill with your name and current address.

General Clinic Hours:

  • 1st and 3rd Saturday and Sunday of each month
  • Sign in from 8 AM to 9:30 AM first-come, first-served
  • OB/GYN care Monday through Thursday from 9 AM to 1 PM by appointment only
  • Vision screening by appointment only
