PBC Hurricane Pet Friendly Shelter Pre-Registration

The Pet Friendly Shelter is available to Palm Beach County residents residing in a mandatory evacuation zone or in mobile homes. Proof of residency is required. Space is limited and restrictions apply. Pet owners are required to stay at the shelter. The shelter can accommodate approximately 300 people, 400 cats, 250 birds and small pocket pets, and 240 small and large dogs. Livestock and reptiles will not be accepted. Pets will be housed in separate area from people. Pet owners will be given a schedule to attend to their animal’s needs. Please call for more information.

Pearl Nelson Child Development Center - ARC Gateway

The Pearl Nelson Center, managed by ARC Gateway, is the biggest group helping young children through Early Steps in our area. They offer various therapies and developmental lessons. These programs are for kids with learning and thinking challenges. They focus on families, teaching parents how to support their child’s growth and daily skills. Pensacola Veterans Village - Volunteers of America

This group runs the Pensacola Veterans Village. This GPD program offers transitional housing. It also offers supportive services. The help is for homeless veterans. Pet Owner Assistance - Humane Society of the United States

The Humane Society has a list on their website of national organizations that provide financial help to pet owners in need. A state by state list of other helpful organizations is also provided. Pet food and helping with spay/neuter needs are among areas of help for pet owners. There are also suggestions on what to do if your pet needs emergency care and you cannot afford a veterinarian.
