Turning Point is a shelter that helps people with substance abuse problems. It offers detox and support services for homeless individuals. The shelter takes in adults who are drunk and coming straight from the street. It provides a place to stay, including cold night shelter, for those who haven’t started recovery yet. Daystar Life Center offers help with utilities and rent. They will speak on your behalf with the companies, and work to stop disconnection or eviction. It is offered by the Department of Elder Affairs which helps low-income households with at least one person age 60 and older. The help is for emergency energy related costs during the year.
