DAF Assessment Center

Provides comprehensive substance abuse and mental health assessments.

The program represents collaboration between the state’s Family Safety Unit and Drug Abuse Foundation and works together to identify and evaluate parents accused of child abuse or child neglect or where suspicion of substance involvement is present. The objective is to stabilize the family to either prevent the child from being removed from the home, facilitate the child in return to the home, or to assist the family in recovery from substance addiction even if there is no possibility of the child returning to the home.

Emergency Receiving and Triage Services allow for clients to receive a brief medical evaluation which will assist in determining how to serve the client.

DAF Juvenile Justice Project

Provide substance abuse mental health assessments on all juveniles arrested in Palm Beach County and who are referred for such an assessment by the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice. The goal of the program is to identify the children’s needs and to refer and link the families to the identified services.

Medical services provide primary medical care, therapy and medication administration to improve the functioning or prevent further deterioration of persons with mental health or substance abuse problems.

DAF Withdrawal Management Services (Detox)

Detoxification programs utilize medical and clinical procedures to assist recipients in their efforts to withdraw from the physiological and psychological effects of substance abuse, for both adults and adolescents with substance abuse problems. Residential detox and addiction receiving facilities are intended to provide emergency screening, evaluation, short-term stabilization and treatment in a secure environment.
