Lunch Program
Each weekday 180-250 meals are served to homeless and near homeless individuals and families, people with low incomes, senior citizens, and children. Lunch time is 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
Evening Meal Program
Three evenings a week volunteers serve an evening meal at The Caring Kitchen. Over 50 people are served each Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday evening from 5:00 to 5:30 p.m.
Breakfast Program
Each weekday over 60 breakfast meals are served to homeless and near homeless individuals and families, people with low incomes, senior citizens, and children. Breakfast time is 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Monday through Friday.
Shut-ins
Three days a week hot meals are delivered to shut-ins. Volunteers delivering the meals visit with the shut-ins to see if they have other needs, such as medical concerns, transportation or household needs.
Weekend Meal/Brown Bag Lunch Program at Cason UMC
Saturday mornings from 9:30 to 11 a.m. two bag lunches (one for Saturday and one for Sunday) are given to homeless and near homeless individuals and families, people with low incomes, senior citizens, and children in our community. This program is run in conjunction with Cason United Methodist Church located at 342 N. Swinton Ave. in Delray Beach.
In 2009, The Caring Kitchen served 102,240 combined breakfast, lunch and dinner meals. The program has added numerous services such as job search assistance and referrals to human service and social service agencies in an effort to move people to self-sufficiency. All of The Caring Kitchen programs are carried out primarily with donated food and volunteers.
We are now an Open Site Community Partner with the Dept. of Children and Families. The public can call the number below to schedule an appointment to get help applying for Food Stamps, Cash Assistance, and/or Medicaid. The City of Delray Beach has partnered with us by providing space in their Computer Lab at Pompey Park (1101 NW 2nd Street, Delray Beach) for volunteers to assist people with the web-based application.
