Florida Department of Education - McKay Scholarship for Students with Disabilities

Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches - Harmony In The Street Mobile Camping (Region 2)

This agency has a mobile camping program. It combines Summer Camp and Youth Camp and offers it to areas that may be socially and/or economically challenged. The aim of this program is to teach youth how to use their free time in a positive manner. They will develop a high level of self esteem and learn positive leadership skills. It also helps them to accept others and appreciate the cultural differences of all. Please call for more information.

Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches - Residential Care Services (Region 2)

FSYR offers a warm, caring home to youth in need. It is for those children who, for whatever reason, cannot remain in their own homes. It is for children ages 8 through 18. Youth are cared for by "cottage parents" who help them develop a strong work ethic, sense of teamwork and self respect. Each child must be recommended by the local Sheriff. Free Legal Services - Bay Area Legal Services

This agency provides free legal services in Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas, and Sarasota Counties. They do not handle criminal or traffic cases. They do not handle Workers Comp claims. Please see the website for all services.

Applicants can get help with:

  • Basic needs, including housing, applying for public assistance, and consumer protection
  • Elder issues, including housing and income preservation
  • Family law issues, including divorce and domestic violence
  • Taxes

Grandparents as Parents (GAP) - Manatee Children's Services

Meets every 3rd Saturday from 11:30am to 1:30pm. Lunch and Child Care provided at no cost. Join a discussion group or listen to others who have walked in your shoes. Speakers come in to help with financial advice and planning, adoption, health and educational situations.

Healthy Families Manatee

Healthy Families Manatee is a free program that gives families useful information on parenting and child development. They offer tools to make parenting easier.

What can Healthy Families do for you and your family?
A family support worker will visit you in your home to:

  • Check to see if your child is developing as expected
  • Connect you to other community services your family may need
  • Help you learn healthy ways of dealing with everyday stress
  • Offer you encouragement
  • Provide information on your child's growth and development
  • Teach you positive parenting skills
