Gulf and Lake Academy

Hours of operation: 8:00am-5:00pm Monday - Friday,
Eligibility requirements: Mental health treatment for male and females age 12-18 referred by Department of Juvenile Justice.
Gulf and Lake Academy is a 105-bed moderate risk residential commitment program that provides specialized mental health treatment services for males and females ages 12 to 18. Located in Land O' Lakes, Florida, the facility is structured so that the male and female populations are separate and distinct. Gulf Academy is comprised of 45 male beds while Lake Academy is comprised of 60 female beds. The length of stay in the program ranges from nine to twelve months.
Gulf and Lake Academy is a contracted provider with the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice who initiates all program referrals. Gulf and Lake Academy is contracted to provide intensive mental health and mental health overlay services. Program services include:

Inpatient crisis stabilization unit for adults 18 years of age and older. Admissions may be on a voluntary or involuntary basis based on Baker Act criteria. Program offers a safe environment for medically stable adults including 24 hour nursing care and supervision, medical services through a physician and/or ARNP, group, individual therapy.

Harbor Behavioral Health - Children's Crisis Stabilization Unit

Inpatient crisis stabilization unit for children and adolescents under 18 years of age. Admissions may be either on a voluntary basis based on Baker Act criteria. Program offers a safe environment for medically stable youth including: 24 hour nursing care and supervision, medical services through a physician and/or an ARNP, group, individual and family therapies as required, along with discharge and aftercare planning. All services are appropriately geared to the developmental stages of children and adolescents. Total capacity: 20 beds, average length of stay 5 to 7 days.

Original Personal Emergency Response Service (PERS), founded in 1974. Allows the frail elderly, and those with physical limitations, to continue living in their own homes, and avoid institutionalization. Enhances their independence and quality of life and gives their family peace of mind.

HPH - Children's Assistance Program

Any child who has a life-limiting illness may be eligible for Hernando-Pasco Hospice care regardless of life expectancy. CAP offers counseling for grieving children in first grade through age 18. CAP also holds a summer day camp and spring weekend camp for bereaved youth.
Hours of operation: 8:30am-4:30pm Monday - Friday
Fees charged: Medicaid, private insurance for Hospice Care, however, any eligible child will be cared for regardless of ability to pay.
Eligibility requirements: Any child who has a life-limiting illness, limited prognosis not necessary.

Lighthouse - Magnification Resources

Lighthouse optician matches client to proper magnification resource - magnifier (hand-held, lighted, stand, etc.), halogen lighting, sunshades, closed circuit televisions, etc. Optician trains client as to proper use of remaining vision and magnification resource. Large print, talking and low vision aids and appliances available.
