Okaloosa County Health Department

The Okaloosa County Health Department provides a range of personal health services:Immunizations, Breast & Cervical Cancer Screenings, Family Planning, Ryan White (HIV), Medicaid (M-F) Dental Clinic,
Sexually Transmitted Diseases, Sick Child Care, Physicals, Pregnancy Testing...

Adults and children may enroll in the Opportunity Health Program in the Fort Walton Beach Clinic to receive comprehensive primary care if they are residents of Okaloosa County and meet income and eligibility guidelines. Family physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and nurses work together in a team to address illness and well care for enrolled patients. Support for labs and medications are provided. Fees are affordable and may be reduced based on patient income.
• A variety of insurances (including Medicaid & Medicare) are accepted
• Uninsured clients will be served on a sliding fee scale based on income
• No one will be denied services based on an inability to pay

WIC Program
To be eligible, you must be a pregnant woman, a breastfeeding woman, a woman who just had a baby, or have an infant or child under 5 years old. There is a family income limit, but working families may qualify.

Healthy Start Program
A Healthy Start Coordinator can help you arrange a variety of services, if needed, to help you have a healthy baby:

Finding a doctor
Childbirth classes
Nutrition education
Breastfeeding support
Information on how to quit smoking
Parenting support and education
Information on counseling services
Family planning or baby spacing
Links to other community resources
Home visits by health professionals
Help with transportation

The Environmental Health branch is dedicated to safeguarding and assuring a healthy community.
We are responsible for monitoring conditions within the community that could present a threat to health and safety of the public

The One Problem Clinic at the Okaloosa County Health Department (Ft Walton Beach location) welcomes appointments, walk-ins, and ER-referrals to patients with minor injuries & illnesses who need to see a doctor, but don't really need an emergency room. All visits are $65 or less*!

*Patients providing qualifying income info may be eligible for reduced rates.
