National Kidney Foundation of Florida, Inc.- Transportation Grant Program

This agency helps dialysis patients with transportation costs not covered by other resources. Patients may use grants to travel to and from dialysis treatment, or for transplant work-ups. This is a funding of "last resort." Social workers must complete the NKF Application for Financial Assistance for the patient.

Providing Bicycles to get to work

Jax ReCycle is a group of volunteers who refurbish discarded or donated bicycles for placement with individuals who need them to get to work. Our goal is to provide bicycles for free to recipients. Although the bicycle is free, it is important that the bicycle has a value to its new owner since the volunteers have put their time, energy, and resources into making this option available. The owner of a ReCycled bike may be able to get to work more easily, arrive to work more quickly, and consistently on time. Ultimately the burden of transportation costs are alleviated. Bicycles are relatively inexpensive to maintain and protect.
